PLC Developer (m/w/d)

Stellenbeschreibung

Our client – a well-established manufacturer of special-purpose vehicles for underground mining and tunneling – is looking to strengthen its international development team in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. In this role, you will contribute to the ongoing development of control algorithms for mobile machinery and accompany new vehicle prototypes from workshop testing to commissioning on-site with customers worldwide.

Your Responsibilities
PLC Programming: Development and maintenance of control logic using Structured Text (ST) according to IEC 61131
System Environments: Working with B&R Automation and IFM control systems, based on CODESYS (v. 3.5)
Diagnostics & Standardization: Development of standardized function blocks for machine condition monitoring and performance optimization
Commissioning & Support: Global commissioning and testing (travel approx. 25–30 %, typically 1–2 weeks per trip), focused on troubleshooting and technical optimization
Cross-functional Collaboration: Close interaction with colleagues from hydraulics, electrics, drive systems – and the international PLC team (currently 10 people)

Stellenanforderungen

Education: Degree or technical training in electrical engineering, mechatronics, automation, or a comparable field
Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on experience in PLC programming for mobile machinery or industrial vehicles – e.g. in underground mining, agricultural machinery, construction vehicles or special-purpose equipment
Technologies & Tools:
– Strong skills in Structured Text (ST) programming (IEC 61131)
– Experience with CODESYS (preferably version 3.5) or a comparable development environment
– Familiarity with B&R and IFM control systems, or equivalent platforms
Nice to have: Knowledge in C (embedded/mobile) or C#
Languages: Fluent in both German and English
Mobility: Willingness to travel internationally (approx. 25–30 %)
